Birds 1967 By Lisa Larson
While living in Sausalito, California, in 1967 the ceramicist Lisa Larson was inspired by the strong colour and natural pattern in folk art from nearby Mexico.
“I brought back gouache colours, in shades which were impossible to get in Sweden at that time,” says Lisa Larson. “I found a retired carpenter who turned out these bird shapes in wood which I then painted all by myself. It was a lot of work, and I had to get back to my ordinary work as a ceramicist…”
Now these birds have been re-launched by Design House Stockholm in vibrantly painted solid beech.
